Dictionary.com names “allyship” its Word of the Year

It’s official. Dictionary.com has chosen its 2021 Word of the Year: Allyship. And TPGi could not be more excited!

What does “allyship” mean?

According to Dictionary.com, allyship is “the status or role of a person who advocates and actively works for the inclusion of a marginalized or politicized group in all areas of society, not as a member of that group but in solidarity with its struggle and point of view and under its leadership.”

TPGi’s mission is to improve digital accessibility so everyone, regardless of ability, can enjoy the benefits and advantages of digital resources. Our employees contribute to the W3C’s working groups, provide free accessibility techniques for companies looking to remediate their content, and work tirelessly to support the accessibility community.

Dictionary.com’s acknowledgement is a welcome nod to people’s growing embrace of inclusion. To all the people and organizations looking to improve accessibility across the board, we thank you!
