Understand, Test, Solve: Color Contrast

Presented on March 9, 2023, at 12pm ET

Presenter:

Aaron Farber, Senior Accessibility Platform Consultant

TPGi’s Accessibility Resource Center (ARC Platform) empowers teams to solve common accessibility issues while growing their understanding of accessibility over time. The “Understand, Test, and Solve” webinar series addresses fundamental concepts in accessibility.

The next topic of our webinar series will cover color contrast testing and the set of WCAG Success Criteria, which address the use of color in a website.

Color contrast testing involves a blend of manual and automated tools. We’ll evaluate these methods and specifically discuss ARC Toolkit, Colour Contrast Analyser, and the browser’s built-in Developer Tools.

We’ll review the basics of color contrast testing and address three color contrast issues using our three-step method: Understand, Test, and Solve.

The main strength of ARC Monitoring is that each issue detected is paired with tailored resources from ARC’s KnowledgeBase to facilitate the Understand, Test, Solve workflow.

Clear steps will be provided so that even teams with less accessibility expertise can efficiently, accurately, and confidently solve accessibility issues. Over this webinar series, teams achieve full WCAG coverage in their testing.

Beyond solving for accessibility, this webinar goes to the important next step: Maintaining and Managing accessibility. Attendees gain concrete steps to retest and validate their solutions and, using the ARC Platform, track issue types to guard against future regressions.

This session is 30 minutes long with 30 minutes dedicated to Q&A.
