Pieces of an Accessibility Audit: Semantics, Design Patterns, and Attributes; Oh My!

Presented on June 26, 2025 at 12pm ET

Presenter: Wes Estes, Accessibility Engineer

One of the many things considered during an accessibility audit is ensuring that content presented visually is also properly conveyed programmatically.

Every piece of content, control, or widget used on a page must also convey information such as its accessible name, expected role, current attributes, and value, as appropriate, and behave expectedly.

Your content (beautiful as it may be) isn’t a two-dimensional piece of art hanging on the wall; it’s an interactive experience for your users. An experience that needs functional and interactive design considerations.
