GAAD 2022 – Creating Inclusive Customer Experiences Through Digital Accessibility

In honor of Global Accessibility Awareness Day (GAAD), TPGi is connecting with and highlighting individuals that are passionate about advancing digital accessibility programs at their organizations and are focused on creating inclusive customer experiences.

Join host TPGi’s Mark Miller, Director – Emerging Accounts & Platform, with special guests:

  • Lori Samuels – Senior Director of Accessibility at NBCUniversal
    She leads strategic accessibility programs to institute best practices in inclusive design, provide training for software development teams, drive cultural maturity in disability inclusion, and fortify executive sponsorship.
  • Karen Williams – Accessibility Lead for the Digital Accessibility Center of Excellence (COE) team at TIAA
    Karen is IAAP Certified Professional in Accessibility Core Competencies (CPACC) in Charlotte, North Carolina, well-versed with eight years of experience in accessibility consultation and leadership, establishing strategic guidance, governance, and collaborative partnerships advocating equal access for persons with disabilities. She begins her accessibility journey by working in High Education for ten years to now three years with TIAA. She maintains working relationships with leadership and accessibility advocates supporting TIAA’s accessibility initiatives. Karen uses vital tools and techniques to sustain Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.1 standards to improve disability access by identifying barriers, integration, and training opportunities.
  • Jaunita George – QA/ADA Analyst III at Navy Federal Credit Union
    Jaunita George is an accessibility expert dedicated to creating the best experiences for all of Navy Federal Credit Union’s members. She serves on the W3C’s Accessibility Guidelines and ARIA working groups and is currently co-leading a sub-group that is creating a recommendation for WCAG 3.0. Jaunita has a diverse background that includes training, copywriting and grant management and compliance. Outside of work, she is active in the community, serving as an election worker and as a tutor for adults learning how to read. Jaunita is also an attorney and provides pro bono legal services as a volunteer at the Pro Bono Resource Center in Maryland. When she’s not working or serving the community, she enjoys traveling, photography and hiking with her husband.
  • Mala Dabideen – Manager, I&IT Accessibility Center of Excellence (ACOE) for the Ontario Public Service (Ontario provincial government)
    Mala began working in the public service 15 years ago as an intern with a policy team that was focused on developing and enhancing legislation for people with disabilities known as the Accessibility for Ontarians with Disabilities Act (AODA). Her work was focused on researching current websites and technologies and determining what types of supports organizations may require in meeting legislative requirements. Fast forward approximately 10 years later, Mala became the Manager of the I&IT Accessibility Center of Excellence which allowed her to continue working towards creating equitable and inclusive technologies and solutions. The ACOE is an enterprise organization that provides digital accessibility advice, guidance, supports and consultations to all Ministries and IT divisions within the Ontario government
  • Corinne Major – Team Lead, I&IT Accessibility Centre of Excellence (ACOE) for the Ontario Public Service (Ontario Provincial Government)
    Corinne is a digital accessibility professional with over 12 years of experience in the field. Currently, Corinne is the Team Lead for the I&IT Accessibility Centre of Excellence (ACOE) within the Government of Ontario. In this position, she leads a team of digital accessibility specialists in advising Ministries on accessible design, development and testing as it relates to web, mobile, audio/video, and documents. While she focuses on a wide range of digital accessibility topics, she has a passion for PDF accessibility.
